Personal Review: Alright, I will start right off the bat and say that if you're thinking this anime is about a random teenage guy who gets a girl through a video game, you're wrong. If you think all these people in this picture are related to each other and waste their life on a stupid game too, you're wrong(mostly). But, if you think that this girl asks this guy to act as her boyfriend for her grandmother's approval and the trip ends up a disaster waiting to happen, you've won 5,000 Otaku Points!
I remember when I watched this for the first time, there was a power outage because of a storm in like the first third of the anime and I was really sad because I had to wait until like midnight to finish it (Just kidding it was for like 2 hours). When I got back to it, I was highly satisfied by the time it ended. THe art is extremely fitting in my opinion. Not to mention it has a really creative plot while including gaming in the characters lives, without having you stare at a screen in a screen the entire time. However, this may depend on what kind of interactions between the anime characters you prefer, but you have to know that I am OBSESSED with very romantic anime. You don't even have to be as obsessed as I am with lovey-dovey anime to understand where I'm coming from. First of all, on the matter of family problems, the portrayal is fairly realistic. Thankfully, not just your typical scenario that usually goes like this:
Character #1: "I'm really sorry, I did something so terrible as to eat your food without your permission. I should've known better and I will never do it again I promise!"
*(imagine this as a more drastic situation if this is not crazy enough for you; just trying to keep it appropriate for my younger readers out there)*
Character #2: Oh I forgive you just please don't leave again. I love you! ~Nya!"
Me: AHH SHUT UP AND SLAP HIM OR I WILL THROW MY PHONE AT THE WALL BECAUSE YOU ARE ALWAYS LETTING YOUR INNOCENT GIRLY KAWAII-DESU SELF GET PULLED AROUND BY ALL THESE SMELLY PIG-HEADED GUYS BECAUSE YOU CANT EVEN FREAKING THINK OF WHAT THE LOGICAL REACTION IS!!
*ahem; clears throat*
But, don't worry, if you hate that as well, I will show you what a character in this anime would probably do…:
[NEW] Character #2: "Don't show your face here ever again unless you can prove to me that I can trust you once more. Cheating on me with my best friend? Come on. You make me embarrassed to be around you now you @#$%!"
LOL, that's much better right? Now of course I know that it'll get boring if it is always like that but I also know a mixture would be the better for the anime community as well. So listen close! You better go watch this now so I can stop making painfully long reviews. Which by the way yes I did notice this one is not very detailed? Well too bad, deal with it. 0-0
